The 3PL "sniff test"
If your warehouse can't prove these 3 things, run.
In the honeymoon phase of picking a 3PL, everyone wants to say "yes."
“Can you integrate with my store?” Yes.
“Can you handle my custom packaging?” Yes.
“Can we be live by next week?” Sure, probably.
But there is a massive difference between a sales guy nodding his head and an operations team actually having the infrastructure to execute. At Harris Quality Logistics, we believe warehousing is the opposite of transactional—it’s about protecting your livelihood. When you hand over your inventory, you’re handing over your late nights and sometimes even your personal savings.
If you’re vetting a potential partner and they can’t show you the "receipts" on these three things, you’re looking at a future headache.
1. The Onboarding SlUMP vs. The 24-Hour Reality
Industry standard for "legacy" 3PL onboarding is typically 30–45 days, and if you’re stuck using old-school EDI instead of modern APIs, it can take even longer. That is over a month of your business sitting in limbo.
We’ve turned things around for partners—moving them in and shipping orders—within 24 hours of their freight hitting our floor. If a 3PL tells you they need six weeks just to "sync your SKUs," it’s a sign their tech is working against them, not for you.
If you’re running on a major platform, we can integrate with it. Click. Click. Authenticate. Sync. Done.
2. The "Scan-Driven" Proof
A lot of warehouses operate and paper lists. That’s how inventory goes missing and customers get the wrong items.
Our system (ShipHero) is entirely scan-driven. This means:
Every step is timestamped: Your team can see exactly when an order was picked, packed, and labeled.
Real-time transparency: No more "calling the warehouse" to see if an order went out. You see what we see, the second it happens.
Integrations that actually work: We offer native, deep integrations for Shopify, TikTok Shop, and Amazon, but that’s just the start. If you sell on it, we can likely ship from it.
3. The "Unboxing" Proof: Don’t Trust, Verify
For high-end or emerging brands, the unboxing experience is your best marketing tool. If a 3PL won't let you do a "test run," they could mess up your brand's first impression.
We encourage our customers to frontload the process. Send us your custom boxes, tissue paper, and stickers before your inventory even arrives. We’ll assemble a test kit and ask: "Does this meet your standards?" If the sticker isn't centered or the hardware orientation is off, we fix it before the first customer order ever ships.
OUR Partnership Model
We built this 3PL to be the partner we wished we had when we were scaling other brands. That means making the "scary" parts of logistics simple:
We Want To Grow Together : Don’t get trapped with order volume ceilings, or partners that don’t want to grow with you.
No Order Minimums: The big 3PLs won’t give you the time of day if you’re under 1,000 orders a month. If you’re starting out, how are you supposed to get to that volume from your garage?
Scalable Flexibility: Whether you’re shipping 25 orders a month or 1,000, our pricing and process scale with you without requiring a brand-new contract.
Ready for a 3PL that acts like an extension of your team? Let’s talk.
